Gerald D. Redwine, Ph.D., M.ED., MT(ASCP) is an Associate professor at Texas State University Clinical Laboratory Science program. He has over seventeen years of experience as a generalist in clinical laboratory sciences over a span of twenty-nine years. His first four years of experience were with the U.S. Air Force as a Medical Laboratory Technician beginning January 1980. He completed Texas State University (then Southwest Texas State) CLS program in 1995 and obtained his second bachelor’s degree.

After many years of training others he pursued his desire to teach and completed a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from Texas Tech University in 2008. He accepted his current position in the same program from which he graduated and teaches Introduction to CLS, Clinical Microscopy, Clinical Chemistry, and Research Methods. While he incorporates into the classes he teaches, what he learned in his Master of Education from Texas Tech University in 2008, his research interests have shifted. In the process of completing his Ph.D. in Adult Professional and Community Education, his research interest shifted from Instructional Technology to educating and encouraging the reduction of diabetes. More specifically, his research interests are in the decrease of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the African-American community by utilizing his developed theory of learning as the focus for qualitative and quantitative research.
