Why did the programs move to RRC?
Growth, a new spacious building will enrich the programs as follows:
- Allows increase in enrollment numbers
- New research facilities with new research opportunities
- Collaborative opportunities with area healthcare facilities

Is parking available near Willow Hall?
Parking is available within walking distance to Willow Hall. For a map and detailed instructions on parking, please visit Parking Services website.

What kind of student housing or dorms are available?
Although there are no dorms on the Round Rock campus, there are many apartment complexes near campus. Texas State has worked closely with apartment management to develop “student-friendly apartment leases” recognizing the academic school year and student needs. Please review the Round Rock Off-Campus Living website for more information from the Department of Housing and Residential Life.

Will I be able to participate in extra activities held at the San Marcos campus as a student at the Round Rock campus?
There are many opportunities for program-specific student organizations to engage in student activities in the Round Rock community. Technology will be available for students in organizations to connect with their San Marcos partners through Zoom, Skype, etc.

Is there a shuttle service from San Marcos to Round Rock?

Is there food service on the Round Rock campus?
The Round Rock Campus has a student lounge in the Avery Building, room 202. It is open when students are active on campus and has different resources such as fresh meals, quick vending kiosks, and an ATM. Please visit the Dine On Campus website for more information.

Is there a Student Health Center on the Round Rock campus?
The Student Health Center on the Round Rock Campus is located in the Nursing Building and sees students by appointment only. Please visit the Student Health Center website for more information.

Is there a library on the Round Rock Campus?
The Library on the Round Rock Campus is located in the Avery Building, room 255. For detailed information about access and hours, please visit the Round Rock Campus Library website.

Will my diploma read “Texas State University at Round Rock”?
Students who attend and complete their program at the Round Rock Campus will have their diploma read "Texas State University", as both campuses are under one entity.

Will I attend commencement on the San Marcos campus?
Students who attend and complete their program at the Round Rock Campus will attend commencement on the San Marcos Campus. For detailed dates and information about commencement, please visit the Commencement website.

Is the Round Rock campus accredited by SACSCOC and individual program accrediting entities?

How is the Round Rock campus different from the San Marcos campus?
By moving the departments of CDIS, PT, and RC to Round Rock to join the St. David’s School of Nursing established a “health campus” that has a focus on professional programs in a singular manner. This type of educational experience is similar to the Health Science Center experience found at medical schools and health science campuses.

Will the faculty be the same on the Round Rock campus?
Many current faculty members from CDIS, PT, and RC have made the move to the Round Rock campus.

Is there a recreation center on the Round Rock campus?
The Round Rock Campus recreation center is located on the first floor of the Avery Building. For more information and updates, please visit the Round Rock Campus Recreation's website.

Are tuition and fees different on the Round Rock campus?
Students at the Round Rock Campus pay the same tuition that students on the San Marcos Campus pay. However, some fees are waived for students taking classes only at the Round Rock Campus. For more information, please visit the Tuition and Fees website.

How will we know what is going on the main campus in San Marcos?
The Texas State webpage is filled with a lot of information on happenings around the San Marcos and Round Rock campuses. You will also continue to receive e-mails sent to all Texas State students.

Will advising appointments be offered on the San Marcos campus?
Students accepted into the programs of CDIS, PT, and RC will be advised on the Round Rock campus. For more information and assistance with advising, please visit the Health Professions Advising Center's website.

What are the off-campus living arrangements in Round Rock?

I'm a student in one of these programs. Where will my clinical rotations be?
Students will complete clinical rotations in a variety of healthcare and education settings located between Round Rock and San Antonio. Please contact the department of your major or your advisor for assistance.

QUESTIONS SPECIFIC TO COMMUNICATION DISORDERS

Is the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic in San Marcos still open?
Yes, the San Marcos clinic is still open with reduced hours and staff. Services will be provided by three audiologists; all graduate student clinicians provide care in Round Rock.

I’m a current client at the San Marcos Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. What happens to my therapy?
The San Marcos clinic continues to see a majority of the clients who are currently enrolled. Clients with similar goals may have group therapy as an option for accommodating more clients in one appointment time.
Graduate students will no longer provide services in San Marcos.

When did the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic open in Round Rock?
The Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic opened in September of 2018.

Students will complete clinical rotations in a variety of healthcare and education settings located between Round Rock and San Antonio.

Which campus offers the support courses that I need as a Communication Disorders student?
The Communication Disorders degree requires three support course electives at the junior or senior level. A variety of courses that meet this requirement are available on the Round Rock campus. Taking these classes earlier than the junior or senior year, may result in not being a full-time student every semester when in Round Rock.

In my freshman and sophomore years on the San Marcos campus, can I participate in Communication Disorders student organizations before being admitted to the program?
Yes, you are welcome to participate in student groups such as NSSLHA, SERTOMA, and BIG before entering the Communication Disorders program, but be aware that their meetings and events are held on the Round Rock Campus, where the department is located.
