Major Changes
Declaring a Health Professions Major
In order to officially declare a Health Professions major, you must fill out a Change of Major form. Before submitting the form, we recommend that you review major/program details on our website and visit the program website, if applicable. Discussing your major change with a Health Professions advisor is also highly recommended. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (512) 245-3506.
Declaring a Major outside of Health Professions
If you would like to switch to a major outside the College of Health Professions, you need to contact the corresponding advising center for that major.
Major Exploration Needed
If you are not sure what major you want to switch to, we recommend Major Exploration with the University Advising Center. They can help you narrow down your options to direct you to an advising center that fits your interests.
Double Majors
Students pursuing two majors with one degree-type, are considered double majors. (Example: B.S. Health Sciences with B.S. Spanish)
Double majors will receive a single diploma with both majors listed.
If your second major is outside of the College of Health Professions, you must verify that you meet your second major’s admission requirements prior to declaring that major.
If you want your primary major to be within the College of Health Professions, you must visit the College of Health Professions Undergraduate Advising Center to declare your primary major. If one major is outside the College of Health Professions, you must visit that college's advising center for advising.
Dual Degrees
Students pursuing two majors with two different degree types are considered dual degree-seeking students. (Example: B.S. Health Sciences and B.H.A)
In order to earn a dual degree, students must meet all the requirements for each degree. Students will be eligible to graduate when they have completed the requirements for both degrees.
If you want your primary major to be within the College of Health Professions, you must visit the College of Health Professions Undergraduate Advising Center to declare your degree. You must verify that you meet your second major’s admission requirements prior to declaring that major.
